B-40532 Flying Diamond The Bailef LOM/AOE/LOM/AOH (Gayfields Court Scandal LOM x Rambur Reflection) was bred by Larry and Tracy Henderson in Missouri. At four and a half, Bailef was purchased from Ranae Smith and moved to Texas to begin his life and riding career at the Lazy J Welsh Pony Ranch with Janice Early.
Competition within the Welsh world has garnered Bailef numerous WPCSA National Awards, his Legion of Merit, the Award of Excellence and the Award of Honour. This year, his offspring completed his Sire Legion of Merit for purebreds and his Sire Award of Honour for Half-Welsh adding to his previous honors and previous WPCSA national and reserve national championships.
In 2007, Wendy Stephens and The Bailef amazed RFDTV television viewers by being the first pony and rider to compete in Extreme Cowboy Races and went on to be Reserve National Champions of the Extreme Cowboy Race of Champions held in Kansas City, MO.
In 2011, The Bailef finished third in America's Favorite Trail Horse reality television competition. Over 1,000 horses auditioned and Bailef was the only pony making it to the final 100 for the filming of the series. The little pony with the big heart ridden by Wendy Stephens garnered thousands of votes and earned them a featured spot in the America's Favorite Trail 2012 Calendar and many compliments as "America's Favorite Trail Pony."
In July, 2012, The Bailef traveled to Calgary, Canada, to be the first,
and only, pony ever invited to compete in the International Invitation
Only
Cowboy Up Challenge. This prestigious competition was held at
the 100th Anniversary of the Calgary Stampede. Their trip to
Canada was supported by dozens of Welsh enthusiasts all over North
America and countless others who watched the competition via live
Internet feed from the Saddledome for three days; it was estimated over
10,000 watched in person. The popular duo finished in the top ten
and greeted fans in the Canadian Welsh association's booth after their
rounds. While in Canada, they were interviewed more than any other
competitor and were featured in numerous newspaper articles and
television segments. Each interview emphasized that he was a
Welsh stallion! Also in 2012, The Bailef was named "2012 Welsh Pony of the Year". Read his nomination letter here. |
